One man is dead following an early-morning crash on Highway 7 heading into Saskatoon.
Just after midnight, a driver passing the scene phoned police to report the crash. Upon arrival, a 36-year-old man from the Delisle area was pronounced dead at the scene.
About an hour after the initial report, Kevin Mulligan got a call from his daughter who drove up to the scene saying she spotted a mangled pickup truck that had crashed into a power pole on the highway near the Pike Lake turnoff.
“As far as I know my daughter said that as they were driving down the road they saw a vehicle leaving the area and when they saw the truck they said it was all twisted up so they jumped out to look into the vehicle but couldn’t see anything,” Mulligan said.
Besides the wreckage, Mulligan’s daughter told him there were prescription pill bottles scattered all over the road and a power pole was knocked over.
RCMP closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 7 for several hours Friday morning. A collision analyst team was called in and police also deployed a drone to take overhead shots of the scene.
