One man is facing very real weapons charges after waving around a fake gun in downtown Regina on Saturday.
Regina police officers were called to 11th Avenue in downtown Regina at 3:22 p.m. where a man was seen pulling a gun from his pocket and holding it to a person’s neck as he pushed him against a wall.
Officers arrested a suspect near the Regina Public Library with an airsoft gun tucked into the waistband of his pants. The orange tip of the airsoft gun had been painted black to make it look like a real weapon.
The suspect was also found with drugs.
Patrick James Akapew, 20, is facing charges for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and three charges of breach of probation.
He appeared in Provincial Court Monday morning.
