The Saskatoon Police Service is questioning two people about the city’s seventh homicide of 2016.
They were arrested by RCMP after a brief car chase near Biggar, Sask. late Sunday night.
Police reported that the pair, a 33-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, were spotted near Asquith, Sask. before they headed west on Highway 14. RCMP found them with help from the Saskatoon police plane.
The woman was arrested after police did a traffic stop, but the man allegedly drove away. Police reported that he was chased into a field where he abandoned the vehicle he was driving and tried to flee on foot before being caught.
Police said Monday that they seized a gun at the scene.
Meanwhile, an autopsy has been scheduled for the alleged victim, a 55-year-old woman who was found dead in her home on the 400 block of Galloway Road on Friday.
At that time, police reported that they don’t believe the woman’s death was the result of a random incident.
