A violent crash near Southey has claimed the life of a Saskatchewan woman.
It happened just before 6:00 p.m. Saturday approximately 13 kilometres south of the small community on Highway 6.
RCMP confirm a northbound truck collided with a southbound car. The truck had one person inside, a male driver, while the car was carrying four people. One of the passengers in the car, a 40-year-old woman from Cupar, died at the scene, while three others were taken to the General Hospital in Regina with injuries not considered life threatening.
The driver of the truck was treated at the scene.
Family in court confirmed the victim is Daphne Schmidt.
Wade Michael Ganje, 34, of Weyburn, Sask. is charged with impaired driving causing death and is facing other other charges.
A portion of Highway 6 was closed for several hours as RCMP investigated. It was reopened early Sunday morning.
