Saskatoon shutout Kootenay for a 4-0 win to pull even with Calgary for the second wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference. Calgary lost 6-1 in Brandon.
Jesse Shynkaruk, Mason McCarty, Kirby Dach and Markson Bechtold scored for the Blades. Bechtold added an assist and a fight for the ‘Gordie Howe Hat-trick’ and was named the game’s first star.
Logan Flodell made 20 saves for his third shutout of the season.
Saskatoon is back home Saturday night to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
