Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Patrick Laine, Jack Eichel are must-see budding stars for the NHL.
What better place to get worldwide exposure for these players than the Olympics.
But no, the NHL doesn’t see the benefit. I agree with the players association that calls their decision not to participate in the Olympics short-sighted.
But Gary Bettman and the owners can’t take all the blame for this decision.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is right there when blame gets thrown around. The NHL gave many options to the IOC in the form of making the NHL an official sponsor or buying out some of the home games.
The IOC said no. They’re spending enough millions on bringing the NHL players to the games.
Here it is again. Billionaires arguing with billionaires as they try to milk as much out each other as possible. Do they care about the fans? Not one bit. Because if they did, a deal would get done.
But it didn’t. The fans lose, as it seems they do all too often.
