Three people managed to swim out to the middle of a lake to save the lives of two young girls.
Prince Albert RCMP responded to a call for assistance on the Sturgeon River shortly after 6:30 p.m. on June 5.
Two 10-year-old girls were seen in the lake and appeared to be in distress. They were roughly 200 yards from shore and struggling to keep themselves above water, as they had lost their flotation device.
A man and two teenagers swam out to the girls with a large piece of Styrofoam. The two girls managed to keep afloat until the rescuers arrived.
All were able to return safely to shore without injury.
Sturgeon Lake is located around 48 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.
