Canada day this year was a tragedy for two Saskatchewan families.
RCMP said two vehicles collided head on near Melville on Highway 10, killing three people.
The driver of one car was identified as 25-year-old Tiffany Bellegarde of Yorkton and her baby boy, as six-month-old Dayton.
The family added her other two children, seven-year-old Mystery and four-year-old Kyson were in the car during the crash. The driver of the second car, a 24-year-old man from Melville was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tiffany’s sister Tristian said Kyson remains in a Saskatoon hospital while Mystery is being treated at Yorkton’s hospital.
Tristian started a GoFundMe page to raise money to pay for medical transport expenses so that Kyson can be with his sister and closer to family.
“The money is going to go towards gas travels because my nephew Kyson, he’s one of the surviving occupants of the vehicle,” she said. “He’s in Saskatoon and we’re trying to work towards getting him back to Yorkton so were trying to fundraise for the ambulance and everything else needed.”
She added that Mystery is doing better but is still in bad shape.
“My Mystery, she actually has a fractured clavicle bone and her pelvis is really, really sore because she was wearing a seatbelt.”
Remembering Tiffany and Dayton
Tristian said the family is mourning the loss of Tiffany and Dayton.
“Everyone is dealing with it I guess the best way that we can,” she said. “We’re trying to be there for one another, the best way we can be.”
Tiffany is being remembered as a loving mother by her family. Tristian said she was the type of person to give the shirt off her back.
“She always did anything for anybody,” she said. “Tiffany would go out of her way to do things for people, they wouldn’t even have to ask and she would be like ‘are you ok? do you need anything? can I do anything for you?’ … she was always like a pay it forward type of person.”
Any money that’s left over from the fund raising website will got to cover the funereal costs for Tiffany and Dayton.
