The teenager who police said struck and killed a man with a stolen truck and then fled the scene with property from the dead man appeared in court on Friday.
Regina police were called to Winnipeg Street on Tuesday, between 11th and 12th Avenue, for a hit and run collision.
Officers believed the truck was stolen and it struck and killed a 50-year-old man from Ontario. His identity has not been released.
It wasn’t until Wednesday that the police canine unit tracked down the man who they believe drove the truck. The man also had property belonging to the 50-year-old with him.
Thomas Nahbexie, 18, appeared in person at Regina Provincial Court, looking a bit nervous when speaking to the judge. This was Nahbexie’s first appearance.
The 18-year-old will remain in custody. He will reappear next Friday for other charges on another matter, before the hit and run matters are dealt with.
