Duron Carter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders is a character.
You ask 100 people what they think of the receiver and you may get 100 different answers.
Answers could include:
- He’s an unbelievable talent and that’s all that matter
- OR he’s a selfish spoiled rich kid, who is riding daddy’s coattails
- OR he’s a goofball who sometimes makes bad decisions
- OR he’s a great guy who is misunderstood
The enigmatic character may just have to be judged on a play-by-play or action-by-action basis.
But what he did Saturday is undeniable and, no, I’m not talking about the catch.
But to make a promise to a young fan before the game and come through with it and meet that fan after the game, sign the ball you gave her after an amazing catch is the part of the CFL I love.
That up close, personal touch you don’t get from the big leagues most of the time.
So kudos to Duron. A selfless gesture that the girl, young Paige, will remember forever.
