The homes being given away in Hospitals of Regina Foundation Home Lottery get more stunning each year. This year you can win a $1.1 million Grand Prize Showhome from Trademark Homes.
“It’s a great house,” says Dino Sophocleous, President and CEO of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, who oversees the lottery. “It’s beautiful. It has both a modern and a rustic country feel. It’s extremely spacious. It’s expensive, obviously, but it feels like a home.”
The showhome is located in The Creeks at 4404 Sage Drive. It’s open for viewing weekdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and noon to 5:00 PM on weekends. The house comes fully furnished, professionally decorated and landscaped. The Grand Prize winner also receives an extra $10,000 cash.
The Foundation is celebrating their 30th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of their home lotteries. Over the years, people have won millions of dollars in prizes, but the best part is that it’s all for an important cause. Proceeds go the Foundation to support Regina’s hospitals with life-saving equipment and programs.
This year, the money raised will support the Foundation’s Trauma Campaign. In 2016, Regina hospitals, who also support southern Saskatchewan, saw over 1500 serious trauma cases, more than four per day, everything from car accidents to incidents on the farm. Trauma care can be complicated, because it is often spread out over a number of services.
You arrive in the emergency room (ER) via EMS,” says Sophocleous. “You’re made stable in the ER, then taken for however many operations you need, more than one in some cases. Then you’re moved into an Intensive Care Unit. From there, to a regular unit to recuperate. Depending on the kind of trauma, you may need Wascana Rehab Centre for rehabilitation. The journey of a trauma patient can be many weeks long and touch a number of services.”
“We have committed to investing $3 million to treat trauma care patients,” Sophocleous continues, “so they can make it home to their families as quickly as possible.”
This year, you can double your impact, because the Foundation has partnered with GMS (Group Medical Services), who will match the proceeds up to $1 million.
The Showhome may be the biggest prize, but it’s certainly not the only one that would cause a person to jump up and down with excitement. You can also bring home prizes like a 2018 BWM X3 or 2018 Infiniti Q60 Coupe, or trips, like seven nights in the Dominican Republic or five nights in New York City.
“There’s also the 50/50 draw,” adds Dino. “This year, we expect it will be over $700,000.”

“I would also say a huge thank you to the community,” says Sophocleous. “These lotteries sell out early every year. The commitment of the community to the foundation is amazing.”
A contribution may win you a prize, but it will certainly mean ever-improving health care for people in need across Southern Saskatchewan.
“It’s not about the prizes,” agrees Sophocleous. “It’s about people. Our neighbors, our parents, our cousins, our friends. Making sure that if they’re in an accident, the hospital has the technology and equipment needed to get them home to their families.”
