Zack Evans and his family are from Regina but he’s now a member of the Ottawa Redblacks. His dad said it was an easy choice for who he will be cheering for during Sunday’s clash against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
“I cheer where my son goes,” Terry Evans said.
Terry didn’t always have to cheer for Ottawa — his son was a member of the 2013 Grey Cup Winning Riders. Zack also played junior football in Regina as a member of the Thunder.
Zack was selected by Ottawa during their expansion draft in 2013.
Terry said he wasn’t surprised his son was able to play football professionally in the CFL.
“I said if he kept working hard at it, his potential is great and I’m glad he did it.”
Terry said he used to watch CFL games all the time with Zack when he was younger and he’s glad he gets to now watch his son play.
He said he plans on watching the game with a few friends.
“They cheer for the Riders except they always cheer for Zack when he makes a good play.”
He said he will be wearing his Ottawa Redblacks gear during Sunday’s matchup.
“I like sitting on the edge of my seat watching the game being played.”
