The weather in December’s bark has been more of a whimper this year in Regina and that’s a good thing for dog owners.
With the temperature hovering around 5 C Tuesday, some owners decided to take their furry friends out for a day at the dog park.
Austin McKee was out with his dog Moose, who’s a German Shepherd mixed breed.
He said the warm weather has been incredible for the dogs.
“You get them out, run them around, a tired dog is a happy dog so the more they can sleep the better.”
Rosemary Coates also had her two dogs, Bella and Sadie, out to get some exercise.
She said getting the dogs outside can also help keep her home clean as well.
“They need exercise as much as we do and if you’re keeping them indoors all the time, you’ll get lots of hair in the house,” Coates said.
It’s not just the dogs who have been able to enjoy the weather, with their owners taking advantage of it as well.
McKee said he would often need to throw on two to three layers of clothing before taking his dog out sometimes.
“You spend more time bundling up than you do outside, so you get to come out and let the dogs run around for a decent amount of time and it’s a lot of fun for everybody.”
The warm weather is expected to stick around for the remainder of the week, with temperatures expected to return to normal just before Christmas.
