The Olympic games are here and they are mired as usual in scandal about performance-enhancing drugs as well as the money hungry IOC who put on the show.
Those scandals can turn some off of the games but an Associated Press reporter Will Graves pointed out on Thursday why we get into these games. The people that save it for the corrupt and greedy IOC.
The athletes are the reason. Graves, who is American, pointed to Canada’s moguls skier Phillipe Marquis who qualified for the moguls final with no ACL in one of his knees.
But there are more examples. Mark McMorris and Denny Morrison’s near-death experiences have been turned into inspiring stories of recovery and focus to get back to medal contending form.
