Beyond support it remains unclear what role the University of Regina will have to its First Nations counterpart. The President is speaking out.
"We cannot legally step in", Doctor Vianne Timmons insists the FNUC is administratively and financially independent of the University of Regina.
But she is offering assurances student and staff that their studies and jobs will continue this year, "my understanding is that the funding is in place to ensure the students complete the programs as is, status quo, until at least September."
After that though the future remains unclear. Timmons is putting much stock on the moves of the FSIN. She's hoping the First Nations leadership will implement the recommendations of the governance report due in two weeks. And from that that the partners will work together to move forward.
But there have already been two similar governance reports will little change coming out of either.
