"Well I think that is fair game", FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild responded to a question about whether the province should wait to see the make-up of the new FNUC board before restoring funding.
The government pulled its $5.2 million dollars following allegations of financial mismanagement and concerns over the autonomy of the institution.
Under pressure from the faculty and especially students, the FSIN agreed to dissolve the board and appoint a new interim board on Monday evening, work Lonechild says will be done by the education and training commission.
"Have the responsibility to appoint those interim board of directors, we will communicate who they are to the public and then we can take the decision on the next steps for this University."
Students are hailing such a move and rallied at the University's common area to hail what they call a successful week. They are now keeping their fingers crossed that this will be enough having funding restored in the future.
