Swift Current RCMP got more than they bargained for when they stopped a vehicle for speeding on Saturday along the Trans Canada Highway.
Sergeat Rob Ruiters explains in a news release that a vehicle was pulled over just west of Swift Current around 8:00pm for speeding. But that stop would ultimately lead to the seizure of over 600 pounds of marijuana and over $5,000 in cash.
Claude Fournier, a 48 year-old Toronto man, was remanded into custody and appeared in Swift Current court Monday morning on charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
He was released after a further court date was set for March 24th, 2010.
