SaskTel is confirming that nine managers and a chief technical officer were dismissed without cause.

Darcy McFarlane with SaskTel insists it is simply a restructuring at the phone company.

“We are going to be adding in another area of our company,” said McFarlane.

“Businesses do reconfigure their employee base on a consistent basis and we’re no different.”

McFarlane denies rumours that the layoffs were a result of recent criticism around problems with SaskTel's 4G network.

The company was severely short in its predictions of expected traffic on that network, and has had to put temporary service towers up to keep calls from dropping and messages from being delayed.

Those employees will receive severance packages as part of their dismissal.
