Sheldon Kennedy needs a break.
Kennedy is giving back the Child Advocacy Centre to the community of Calgary after it was named after him in 2013.
Kennedy has travelled Canada speaking on the numerous issues facing our youth from bullying to discrimination to being a victim of sexual assault and violence.
I couldn’t imagine the tremendous weight on Kennedy’s shoulders hearing stories as well as sharing and reliving his own horror, time and time again.
Kennedy sent out a statement on Tuesday saying he’s been a strong believer in people taking care of their mental health and now it’s time for him to take his own advice.
With a young child at home and the other in college, Kennedy says he needs more time for himself and his family after giving so much time to others.
Kennedy isn’t exactly going away. He will continue to help in making the welfare of children a top priority, but he’ll do so with more balance.
We understand why and thank him for continuing to care so deeply for our kids.
