On day two of the legislative session, the government was on the defensive over the controversial Global Transportation Hub (GTH) land deal.
The provincial auditor found no wrongdoing but questions still remained about the deal that saw the land sold well above market value.
And now there’s an indication there may have been a breach of cabinet confidentiality as the parties involved worked to negotiate the sale.
Despite repeated questions Minister Jeremy Harrison stuck with the same line about the auditor’s report.
“We are taking the recommendations from the auditor very seriously, we are working on making sure they are implemented in an appropriate way,” Harrison said.
It has now been revealed that SaskPower was also involved in the deal, buying land around the GTH to consolidate its operations, even though four years later that land sits undeveloped.
The NDP says the deal “stinks” and is calling for a forensic audit.
