The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released Duron Carter after nearly one-and-half seasons with the team.
Carter has spent time both at receiver and defensive back this season.
He had eight receptions for one touchdown this season but he has spent a majority of games this season on defense. This follows a season that saw him eclipse 1,000 yards and score eight touchdowns.
During his time at defense this season, he picked off one pass and took it back for a touchdown.
Carter had recently been put back on the offensive side of the ball.
Welp… just got the call… I’m out Sask! Love y’all!!! Most fun I had in a long time!!!

According to TSN’s Farhan Lalji, Carter was not given a reason for his release and was told the team is moving in another direction.
Duron Carter wasn’t given any reason for his release. Was thanked for his work on both sides of the ball & told the team was moving in another direction.
Veteran contracts aren’t guaranteed until after 9th game, so #Riders arent on the hook for the balance of the year. @CFLonTSN— Farhan Lalji (@FarhanLaljiTSN) August 12, 2018
Lalji is also reporting Carter is in Montreal during the Riders bye week and Carter had indicated there was no conflict with the coaches.
Carter is currently in Montreal on #Riders bye week. Says there was no conflict with coaches. Isnt concerned about why, more focused on his next move. i would expect it wont take him long to find a new home.
Curious if this will lead to anything with Terrell Owens. @CFLonTSN— Farhan Lalji (@FarhanLaljiTSN) August 12, 2018
