SaskPower will be installing wildlife protection on poles resulting in some planned power outages in Regina in the coming weeks.
In an email, Heather Johnson with SaskPower, said a rubber insulated hose will be added to a piece of equipment called bushing inside the transformers. It explained the insulation will help protect the transformers from incidental shorting if an animal gets on the transformer and makes accidental contact with the equipment.
These planned outages will affect 15-30 homes at a time for about 1-2 hours.
The outages will begin Wednesday morning with outages scheduled for certain blocks of Elphinstone, Montague, Athol, Garnet, Cameron and Angus streets. Leopold Crescent will be affected in the afternoon.
Homeowners will receive a written notice 24-hours before their area is affected. SaskPower will also share information through Twitter.
