Saskatoon Light and Power customers will see a rate increase in September.
The move comes after a special session of Saskatoon City Council on Wednesday.
Councillors voted unanimously for a two per cent rate increase that will come into effect Sept. 1.
The increase mirrors a two-per-cent hike previously announced by SaskPower, also set to begin at the beginning of September.
Saskatoon Light and Power is a city-owned utility serving homes within Circle Drive. Traditionally, the company has tied its rates to SaskPower’s. SaskPower provides electricity to homes outside the Saskatoon Light and Power service area.
Saskatoon Light and Power collects a minimum service charge of $22.24 per month from customers. The minimum charge will not be increased, only the rate charged on actual electricity used.
