People in Regina can raise a glass to the city’s newest liquor store.
Willow Park Wines & Spirits quietly opened its doors to the public on Saturday, Aug. 29. It’s the second “full-line” private liquor store to open in the Queen City.
Store manager Scott Lyons-Belt said they’ve been hearing great things from the first people who have stopped by to see the store.
“We got people coming in, walking, taking their first couple of steps and then they stop and grab a shopping cart because they see all of the products they can get.”
Lyons-Belt explained the store has 4,000 different products to offer. All of the beer is kept in coolers similar to what you would see in the freezer aisle of a grocery store.
“It’s not a walk-in cooler. They’re kind of just cooler doors so you can see the products and you don’t have to go into a cold room to pick out anything.”
Along with a wide variety of wines, liquors, and other liquor-store staples, Willow Park Wines & Spirits also carries olive oils, cocktail olives, potato chips and other items you might need for a night of wining and dining at home.
Lyons-Belt said the staff will all be receiving training to help them answer questions from customers.
“We’re going to be talking to the customer to find out exactly what they need. If they like the sweeter or the dry, if they like the reds or the whites – show them the different variations in the grapes in the wines that they can get.”
The public will also be able to take classes. Lyons-Belt said there will be workshops on things like scotch, pairing wine with the right potato chip, and presentations from distilleries.
