The University of Alberta’s Golden Bears managed to grab the lead from the University of Regina Rams in the second half of Friday’s game, securing a win for the Bears in both team’s Canada West opener.
The Rams were leading by nine points at the half, 16-7, but gave up 22 points in the second half, 14 in the third quarter and 8 in the fourth, to usher the Golden Bears to victory. The Rams only managed to score six points in the second half.
Rams’ running back, Atlee Simon, had a career-high 189 yards on 28 carries.
Riding off the win, Alberta will be up against Saskatchewan’s Huskies next. The Rams will go on the road to take on University of B.C.
