A 16-year-old man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested after allegedly making two attempts to flee police in a stolen vehicle.
It started early Friday morning just after midnight when the RCMP requested the Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit to help arrested suspects involved in break and enters at homes in Dundurn.
A police chase ensued when the RCMP found the suspects driving a black Dodge Journey and a white Ford pickup truck. Both the vehicles were reported stolen out of Saskatoon.
The suspects in the pickup truck got away but spike belts disabled the Dodge Journey. The suspect, who is the 16-year-old later arrested, ran away towards Dundurn and broke into another home and stole a second vehicle.
That led to a second police chase with the suspect as he drove towards Saskatoon on Highway 11. Officers with the Saskatoon Police Service were able to stop the vehicle with stop sticks near the Highway 11 and Highway 16 overpass.
The man has been arrested and taken to the RCMP detention centre.
He is scheduled to appear before a judge Friday morning to face several charges including break and enter, home invasion, theft of a motor vehicle, several breaches, driving while prohibited and failing to stop for police.
He had a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.
