It’s been quite the journey for Saskatoon’s Brett Boyko and his jump to the NFL.
After a stellar career at UNLV, he went from undrafted to signing with Philadelphia, to being cut and then joining the Eagles practice roster.
As Philadelphia gets ready to play its first game Monday night in Atlanta, Boyko waits patiently to see some playing time.
The offensive lineman says the ride has been worth it.
“It’s been an unbelievable journey,” said Boyko. “It’s had its ups and downs but I’m living my dream. By no means is it over and I hope a lot of kids back home can learn from my experience and do the same.
Boyko believes a time will come where we see more kids from Saskatoon and Saskatchewan make the jump to the pro ranks whether that be the NFL or CFL.
“There’s a lot of talented players in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan in general,” said Boyko. “I hope they don’t fear anything and are excited to go outside of their comfort zone and try and experience what I’ve been able to do.”
An experience that will hopefully lead to a long and successful career in the NFL.
