Canadians will see a new Heritage Minute about Terry Fox on their televisions starting on Tuesday.
Historica Canada is launching the new Heritage Minute to mark the 25th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope this month.
The spot is narrated by CTV News’ Lloyd Robertson. Just after the Marathon of Hope ended in September 1980, Robertson hosted a telethon that raised $10 million.
Of all the news stories I’ve covered, very few have touched me as deeply as the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope,” said Robertson in a media release.
Terry Fox ran 5.373 kilometres over 143 days to raise money for cancer research. He was Canadians’ top choice for a new Heritage Minute when polled in 2012.
The Heritage Minute will be available online on Sept. 16.
