Crews moving ahead on Children's Hospital construction

Construction is moving forward on the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan.

Contractor Graham Construction and Engineering LP began setting up on the site this week.

Over the coming weeks, they’ll be working to get underground utilities put in before the winter freeze-up. Graham will also be setting up a pair of cranes that will be used in the build. At 270 feet, the largest crane will stand taller than Saskatoon’s tallest building.

At a media event on Wednesday, project director Craig Ayers with the Saskatoon Health Region said the work will mean occasional disruptions for people accessing the Royal University Hospital parkade.

Ayers said people will still be able to get in to park, but he advised drivers to give themselves extra time and to keep an eye out for signs directing them.

The hospital is expected to be completed on 2019.
