Saskatchewan sports fans can get one step closer to the inaugural season of the Saskatchewan Rush, the defending National Lacrosse League (NLL) Champions.
On Thursday the Rush announced season tickets go on sale on Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. Season-ticket packages start at $199 for families and $249 for bronze-level seating, with President’s Club season tickets priced at $549 for nine regular-season home games.
Saskatchewan Rush owner Lee Genier told News Talk the local sports community has really rallied behind the team, excited to see them defend their championship in their new city since moving from Edmonton to Saskatchewan.
“We’ve had incredible support from the lacrosse community and there’s certainly a huge group of fans there and once people experience the game that will be the test,” Genier said. “Not everyone has heard about us, but there’s been a lot of people and I always ask people if they’ve heard about the new team.”
But for those who haven’t been to a live professional lacrosse game before, Genier said it’s something action-sports fans can’t miss.
“Our game is incredibly exciting, it’s not just a game it’s an event. My best quote is: ‘it’s a rock concert meets UFC,’ and when people make the trek out to SaskTel Centre its for a great reason.”
The Rush open their season on the road in Calgary before returning to SaskTel Centre for their home-opener on Jan. 15 against the Vancouver Stealth.
Genier said with 15,000 seats at SaskTel Centre, it’s the perfect fit for his lacrosse team and he expects big crowds at every home game.
