Some counterfeit $100 and $50 bills are being passed around the Queen City.
The Regina Police Service says fake bills have been used at a number of businesses in and around the city. They look like the new polymer bills, but the large transparent window doesn’t have small numbers that correspond with the bill’s denomination. The fake bills also have tape on the transparent window that you can feel with your fingers.
The police service reminds businesses that they can refuse to accept a suspicious bill. If businesses discover they have received one of these bills, they should call 911, handle the bill as little as possible and put it in an envelope, and note as much as possible about the suspect that used it.
Anyone with information about the counterfeit bills is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
