Murray Wood: Are Saskatchewan Roughrider fans still the best in the CFL?
Murray Wood says attendance at Rider seems to be down, even though the team guards the numbers. But with a strong record...
The Saskatchewan Roughriders were winners on Sunday – and so was the Tackle Hunger Program.
The initiative is a collaboration between the CFL, Purolator and local food banks to gather food donations. Donors can then get a photo with the Grey Cup.
On the latest leg of its nine-city tour, Rider fans showed up in force with groceries in hand. The Regina Food Bank’s donation barrels were full, continuing a thus-far successful year for the program.
Event organizer Lisa Gaspar hopes the program raises 1.4 million pounds in food donations across the country.
Gaspar said the program has raised over eight million pounds of food since its creation in 2003.
