A truck Regina police say was stolen plowed through a block of Athol Street early Tuesday morning leaving more than a dozen vehicles damaged.
Police were called at 5:30 a.m. about a hit and run on Athol Street by 13th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a black truck that had hit a total of 16 vehicles. Firefighters doused the truck, believed to be stolen from Bethune, with water.
Two teenage girls and a third suspect – believed to be a male – ran from the truck. A witness was able to detain the girls, but the third suspect has not been found.
One of the girls – a 15-year-old – had a small cut and had to be taken to hospital. The other girl – a 16-year-old – was arrested.
The suspects can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 15-year-old is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. The 16-year-old is charged with 16 charges of failing to remain and the scene of an accident, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and impaired driving.
Both girls have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Youth Court on Nov. 24.
Regina police are still looking for the third suspect. They ask anyone with information on him, or information on the incident itself, to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
