Family of Jays fans travel from Weyburn to see game in Toronto

A mother and daughter from Saskatchewan are thrilled to be in Toronto to see the Jays play the Rangers at Rogers Centre.

Janet Borschowa says they drove through the night from Weyburn with her husband to get there on  Monday. She is very excited, but says her mom will likely out-cheer her and her husband who is only starting to get into baseball.

“This was mom’s idea, she’s a huge Blue Jays fan, she’s been watching forever and she kinda commented that we should go to a game, and here we are,” she said.

The family was getting ready when they called CJME from outside the stadium hours before the game.

“We’re all getting our faces painted and our eye black put on and there’s quite a few people, everyone’s in blue of course,” she said.

Borschowa is 33 and she remembers watching the last Jays World Series games with her mom when she was a kid.

Muriel Kram from Milestone has been a super fan for decades, but this is the first time she will get to cheer from the stands.

“Oh it’s just going to be unbelievable to watch this with the crowd and just get right into it,” Kram said.

She still remembers Joe Carter’s home run in the last World Series as clear as day.
