Thanksgiving Weekend is expected to feel more like August than October this year.
David Phillips, Environment Canada’s Senior Climatologist, said Thursday that the high of 26 degrees forecasted for Saturday could break the all-time record of 26.7 degrees set in 1934.
“I remember one back in 1998 in Saskatoon where you got 25 cm of snow, well that’s not going to happen at all. This is going to be a winter-free kind of weekend,” he said.
Sunday and Monday will be a bit cooler, but still above average. Normal highs for this time of year are around 13 degrees.
Phillips said the rest of the month is expected to be warmer than normal with minimal frost.
“I think the farmers can pretty well continue to combine and feel like there’s nothing going to get in the way.”
