Competitors carved their way around the bowl at the Lions Skate Park to show if they had what it took to take top spot in the first Right to Skate Bowl Riders Classic.
The event helped raise money for the Right to Skate group that provides skateboard equipment, lessons and mentorship to underprivileged youth.
Around 20 skaters took part in the event.
While Saturday’s weather agreed with the competition, organizer James McKnight said they’ll soon have to hang up their boards for the winter. That’s why the group is trying to get an indoor park built.
“We definitely need to keep Saskatoon and Saskatchewan youth engaged during the winter,” he said. “Just because it snows outside doesn’t mean you can’t get your friends together and have a good time.”
McKnight said the group has a location “in the back pocket” but nothing has been settled. They hope to have an indoor park in the near future.
