The same day a man was being found guilty of killing a flag-person in a construction zone, another worker may have narrowly avoided it happening again.
Shawn Whitrow said he was stopped at a construction zone on Highway 6, near Ceylon, shortly after lunch. He said the worker there told him they were waiting for the RCMP because a semi had come speeding through and narrowly avoided hitting a worker.
The RCMP confirmed they had received a complaint about a semi speeding through a construction zone on Highway 6, but couldn’t confirm the close call.
An officer stopped the semi and warned the driver, but no tickets were issued. An RCMP spokesperson said warnings can be issued when an officer didn’t see the offense happen.
