Harvest nearly done in Saskatchewan

Harvest is nearly wrapped up, with 91 per cent of the 2015 crop now combined, slightly behind the five-year average of 93 per cent.

Of the crops, 95 per cent of durum, 93 per cent of barley, 91 per cent of spring wheat, 89 per cent of canola, 85 per cent of soybeans, 78 per cent of chickpeas, 63 per cent of canary seed and 61 per cent of flax has been combined.

Producers in the southwest are furthest ahead with 96 per cent of the crop combined. The northeast is the furthest behind with only 83 per cent of the crop combined.

Strong wind over the Thanksgiving weekend blew remaining swaths around and shelled some standing crops.

The crop report indicates livestock producers have adequate amounts of hay, straw, greenfeed and feed grain for the winter.
