A man is dead after he was hit by a car while walking on Highway 16 near Maidstone Friday.
RCMP responded to the call around 8:20 p.m. one mile east of Maidstone. A man was struck by a car while walking in one of the eastbound lanes of the highway and died at the scene.
The driver of the car, who had not been drinking, stopped and called police.
The man’s identity is not yet known, nor why he was walking in the traveling lane on the highway.
Traffic in the eastbound lane was rerouted to one of the westbound lanes while police investigated.
