One woman is dead and another is in custody as RCMP investigate a murder on Grandmother’s Bay First Nation.
Stanley Mission RCMP were called to a complaint of an assault at a home on the reserve Saturday at 1:30 a.m. When they and EMS from La Ronge arrived, they found the body of 39-year-old woman who lived on the reserve.
Police arrested Josephine Roberts, a 37-year-old woman from Grandmother’s Bay, and charged her with second-degree murder.
Roberts will remain in police custody until her first court appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday.
An autopsy will be done at the Saskatoon City Hospital in the coming week.
The investigation is ongoing.
The family of the victim has asked for privacy and asked police not to release her name.
