The day-long event welcomes over 250 female hockey players from ages four to 22.
The numbers indicate the NDP’s Erin Weir won the riding of Regina-Lewvan, but the Conservative candidate isn’t conceding defeat just yet.
Trent Fraser lost out to Weir by a slim 143 votes, according to final figures from Elections Canada.
While specifics aren’t being mentioned, nor is any party, Fraser’s team claims there was questionable conduct at some polling stations. His campaign manager said scrutineers observed that conduct, which has been brought to the attention of Elections Canada.
“There was some anomalies during the day,” Fraser said at Tory headquarters in Regina Monday night. “It says that he’s ahead but our campaign team is looking at exactly what’s transpired during the day and we will consider making sure that all people that were able to actually vote, actually voted.”
Fraser’s camp is meeting late Tuesday afternoon to formally decide whether to ask for a recount. Fraser has already indicated that is likely to happen.
Under the Elections Act, a judicial recount is automatically triggered if the difference between the number of votes cast for the candidate with the most votes and the number of votes cast for any other candidate is less than 1/1,000 of the valid votes cast.
