Distance is apparently no barrier for die-hard fans of the Toronto Blue Jays from Saskatchewan.
Humboldt’s Justin Lockhart was at game five and after the team had won, he half-jokingly wondered who wanted to go to game six with him in Kansas City.
After one of his buddies said they were interested, the rest was sealed pretty quickly.
“Absolutely spur of the moment. We got tickets and the hotel booked in probably less than an hour and then took off,” Lockhart explained.
“Flights down here from Saskatchewan are an insane price and (it’s) an 18-and-a-half hour drive, so it wasn’t too bad. We jumped in the vehicle, drove overnight. We were pretty wiped but looking forward to the game.”
Lockhart said he was a little too young to truly appreciate the Blue Jays winning the World Series in 1993, so this is a unique experience for him. It’s one that he insisted didn’t break the bank for him either, given the magnitude of the game.
Of course, as a fan, he’s hoping Toronto can pull off the win, but more so for the fact that he’s already bought his ticket for a possible game seven.
