Glass, plastic, and twisted metal were being cleaned up from Garnet Street on Tuesday after a crash caused damage to five vehicles parked on the street.
Andrea Carratt woke up to the sound of the crash just before 5 a.m.
“I heard a really loud, kind of like a rumbling, and some stuff, I’m not sure what was going on.”
She said at first she thought it was her cats knocking things over in the basement, until she heard shouting.
“So I looked outside and I could hear my neighbours starting to yell, and running from their house, and I saw my neighbour with the red truck running down the street.”
Carratt said a vehicle had come careening down the street, hitting her neighbour’s truck, pushing it into her mother’s vehicle. It then scuffed along the side of her vehicle, and an axle ripped off the offending car and skimmed across the top of hers. She said the whole crash ended with the car hitting a white truck into another truck and then coming to a stop across the street.
Police said a 31-year-old man was taken to hospital from the vehicle that had hit the others. As of Tuesday afternoon, police said charges were expected.
