The operator of a medical marijuana dispensary recently raided by Saskatoon police is challenging some of the accusations leveled against him.

Mark Hauk owns the Saskatoon Compassion Club on 2nd Avenue North. The business was raided alongside Hauk’s home last Thursday. Hauk spent a night in jail before getting bail on Friday.

As of Monday, he had reopened his business, despite shelves left empty in the wake of the raid.

He’s never denied that he was willing to circumvent the federally-approved grower system, saying it doesn’t provide many products his clients need to treat their ailments. But, during a phone call to Gormley on News Talk 650, Hauk ripped into some of the claims made by police.

Specifically, Hauk took exception to being accused of using flammable solvents to produce cannabis resin in his home or business.

“In my home? Never. Have I ever extracted marijuana oil and sold it in a store? Never,” he said.

Hauk said he thinks the police may be making that accusation based on their search of his home.

“They found juice in my freezer that was no more harmful than V8 juice and has no psychoactive effects to it. They don’t even know what it is that they have,”he said.

Hauk took it one step further, suggesting police simply show the evidence of what they found.

So then there’s the other notion that’s gone along with this, that I’m producing cannabis resin in my home and they found three kilos of it, let’s see it. I’d ask the police — I’d challenge them to pull it, roll it out today and show the public,” he said.

Hauk is currently operating the Saskatchewan Compassion Club under a court order that he only deal with a federally-approved grower.
