A serious crash on Circle Drive North at Faithful Avenue caused traffic to backup during the Friday’s morning commute.
Saskatoon police, fire and MD Ambulance had eastbound traffic blocked off at around 6:45 a.m. with just the curb lane passing through.
Police said a flat-deck pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Circle Drive and had stopped to make a left turn onto Faithfull Avenue when it was struck from behind by a car.
The 24-year-old woman driving the car became trapped and had to be extricated by Saskatoon Fire. She was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the truck was not injured.
“The car it looks like it’s totally demolished and it looks like someone might have been seriously hurt,” a passerby said. “The whole passenger side and front end is smashed, surrounded by firemen and ambulance workers so it’s hard to see.”
Traffic is now flowing again in the area.
