Police nabbed four suspects allegedly connected to a recent string of armed robberies in Saskatoon.
“We’re talking about two groups of two people,” said Alyson Edwards with the Saskatoon Police Service. “They were brought in at different times from different circumstances.”
Over the weekend, three more armed robberies were reported in Saskatoon, bringing this year’s total to 144 cases. However, even with the recent spike, statistics show Saskatoon is seeing fewer armed robberies than last year.
“At this time – Nov. 9, 2014 – we were sitting at 184 armed robberies and for 2015 we’re at 144 so yes it may seem that there has been so many recently, and there has, but we often see these things come in spurts and then it quiets down,” Edwards said.
She explained that investigators don’t yet know how many armed robberies the four suspects are connected to and that will determine how many charges they face.
“Investigators are trying to determine that right now, they’re trying to find similarities and evidence that will link the suspects to the recent string of armed robberies but that may take some time,” she said.
