The Force is strong with the Saskatoon Blades who announced a special Star Wars night later this month.
In partnership with PotashCorp and the Food Banks of Saskatchewan, the Saskatoon Blades will wear special Star Wars-themed hockey jerseys on Nov. 28 when they face off against the Edmonton Oil Kings. The special jerseys depict the Battle of Hoth from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
Fans are encouraged to come to the game dressed up as their favourite Star Wars characters. Prizes will be given out the best dressed fans in the rink, including tickets to the Saskatoon premiere of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which hits theatres Dec. 18.
Non-perishable food and cash donations will be accepted at the door for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
Characters from the iconic movie franchise will be on hand to add to the atmosphere of this special evening. The jerseys will be available for purchase through a silent auction at the game with a portion of the proceeds going to the Food Banks of Saskatchewan.
