Paris woman from the Prairies in shock after deadly attacks

A Canadian woman who lives in Paris says she’s still in shock over the attacks that killed more than 120 people.

Amanda Kalynuk-Pasquet was out for supper with her husband when their friends started sending messages asking if they were okay. They realized what happened when they arrived home.

“For me, I kind of went – again? Paris – it’s been less than a year since the last situation,” she said. “It was surprising for me that it’s happened again.”

She grew up in small town Manitoba where she says you never think anything bad is going to happen.

“I had a message from a friend and I think her words were perfect. ‘My heart hurts and I’m sad for what our world is coming to that people… that this is happening. It’s sad. It’s sick,” Kalynuk-Pasquet explained.

She’s not sure what the next few days will bring, saying they will have to wait at home and see what the government directs people to do.

Kalynuk-Pasquet expects security will change forever in France, just like it did after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the U.S.
