“Saddening”, “astounding” and “frustrating” is how a Regina man describes the attacks on his home city of Paris.
Arie Baum watched the coverage of the attacks in Paris Friday night as the scenes unfolded. He says it was a matter of trying to understand what was happening.
“Because of what we do, quite far away actually, a few people actually came over and are just trying to destroy the trust we have … they’re trying to destroy the idea of a nation, a welcoming nation. They’re trying to get us to fight against one another.”
Baum spoke to his family who are still in Paris and said they’re fine, that they’re mad but not scared.
He said he believes in the west, that we’re fighters.
“We don’t allow those few guys to represent an entire religion. We don’t allow them to represent an entire country … We don’t stop living, we don’t stop going out, we don’t start being scared.”
