An accused serial robber in Saskatoon was quiet and disheveled during his first court appearance Monday after being arrested over the weekend.
Christopher James Seed, 21, faces nine armed-robbery charges after allegedly using a BB gun to rob convenience stores, fast-food chains and a hotel. He’s accused in nearly one armed robbery a day for two straight weeks.
His alleged spree started with a hotel robbery on Cope Way in Stonebridge on Halloween night and ended with his arrest on Nov. 13 following a robbery on Betts Avenue in Blairmore.
Seed is also accused of robbing a Subway restaurant in the 1200 block of Idylwyld Drive North on Nov. 3 and the Stop N Go Confectionery on Wedge Road in the Dundonald neighbourhood the next day.
Court heard Seed is charged with one count of attempted armed robbery after trying to rob the Taco Time on 22nd Street on Nov. 8. Hours later, he allegedly held up the same hotel in the 500 block of Cope Way that he is accused of robbing on Halloween.
Seed faces 26 charges in total. In addition to the armed robbery charges, he is also facing 10 counts of wearing a disguise with an intent to commit an indictable offence.
He is not charged in connection to the string of armed robberies that happened prior to Oct. 31, including the one at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Herold Court on Oct. 29.
Last week, police charged a 28-year-old man believed to be involved in at least five of the recent armed robberies in Saskatoon. So far his charges only pertain to the Nov. 7 armed robbery at the NorDon Drugs on the corner of Isabella Street and Louise Avenue.
